Safe for Baby's Skin
Hey Super Momma! What do you put on your baby’s skin? Have you ever thought about the ingredients in those products? As a Makeup Artist I have become hyper aware of everything that touches my little ones’ skin.
Creepy chemicals and ingredients are lurking in so many products... products that we are told are safe! A lot of companies say they use safe ingredients or claim to be “approved” (not tested) by some doctor. With the way the U.S. monitors ingredients in skincare - or should I say fails to monitor ingredients - it can be really hard to figure out what is safe to put on your little one’s skin.
I have done a ton of research and found several products and companies that DO use safe and healthy ingredients. Thanks goodness someone is thinking of our babies, right!?
My baby-safe skincare favorites do NOT include these ingredients:
Also… they are totally vegan and cruelty free!
I won’t ever put a lotion on my sweet babies that isn’t Arbonne Baby Care. Arbonne carries an amazing lotion that keeps my little one’s skin soft and moisturized. ABC Arbonne Baby Care Lotion is so great for that brand new, perfect baby skin. It is made with shea butter, aloe and chamomile. I really loved having this lotion a few weeks after my babies were born to help their skin rehydrate. It is also allergy-tested, pediatrician-tested and dermatologist- tested…. notice how it is tested, not just approved.
As mommas we always end up dealing with diaper rash at some point. ABC Arbonne Diaper Rash Cream is the best I’ve found! It doesn’t smell bad or feel super creepy like it’s full of processed oils. It does just what it’s supposed to do- lock out unwanted moisture and protect that sweet little bum! (Oh and one of the things I really love… it’s great for bug bites too - for Momma and baby! I love a product that can have multiple uses). Once again, this product is also allergy-tested, pediatrician-tested and dermatologist- tested.
Kennedy doesn’t always “go” regularly. This is new for me, since Calvin pretty much was always a regular monkey ha! I had to really research and find some safe ways to help her little system get moving. I found that Young Living DiGize essential oil really helps ease her tummy and relax. The oil is a blend of Tarragon, Ginger, Peppermint, Juniper, Lemongrass, Anise, and Patchouli oils… so it smells super great too! I use it with a carrier oil - like coconut oil - and just rub it on her belly and bottoms of her feet.
Maty’s Chest Rub is my favorite clean product to use for colds. It is so soothing and smells great! Whenever either Kennedy or Calvin is fighting congestion or sniffles, this is what I turn to. So many rubs on the market are loaded with mineral oil and fake fragrance. I love that Maty’s is clean and uses natural ingredients.
I hope that list gives you some direction on what is safe for your little ones. Remember YOU need to use healthy skincare products, too. For more on what is safe to use on your own skin, check out this blog post from Life’s A Jess <3
Keep being super, Momma!! Love you!
